I’m Jasmine Garcia De Los Santos, an undergraduate student at Mount Holyoke College, double-majoring in Critical Race and Political Economy and Film, Media, and Theater. I was born and raised in Queens, New York.
My journey in photography and filmmaking began during my high school years. Given my experience, I have been able to develop a unique perspective on the way filmmaking can be used as a tool for change. My dedication to activism has always been connected to my art.
As a first-generation daughter to Mexican immigrants, I have experienced firsthand the continuous struggles that millions across the country continue to face. Film became my outlet to express those frustrations and reimagine my own identity as something to be proud of. My identity stands at the forefront of all my work as a way to take on new challenges and persevere within all that is new.
I’m committed to advocating for Latine voices, as I believe there is a significant gap in representation. I’m excited to continue expanding my creative practice and exploring new ways to express myself through art.
